Cleansing: And Why You Need to Do it Daily

Of all the skincare steps needed daily - cleansing is the one that should never be missed.

Hi all. Today, we're embarking on a journey into the heart of great skincare – cleansing. Nail this step, and you're well on your way to achieving that coveted skincare heaven.

I'm sure many of you have heard me rave about the figure 8 method of cleansing, a technique that I not only swear by but wholeheartedly recommend to all my clients. Today, let's unveil the mysteries behind this approach and understand why it's a game-changer for your skincare routine.

Before we dive into the figure 8, remember to give your eyes a little extra love by removing any eye makeup with a gentle makeup remover or facial wipes. After all, those windows to your soul deserve nothing but the best.

Now, onto the star of the show – the figure 8 method of cleansing. Here's how it's done:

1. Foam Up Your Cleanser: Whether you're at the basin or in the shower, take your chosen cleanser and foam it up in your hand.

2. Start at the Top: Commence your cleansing at the hairline. With small, gentle circular motions work your way around the hairline. This is a crucial step because oil from your hair can accumulate here, and we wouldn't want any unwelcome breakouts, would we?

3. Down the Sides: Keep those gentle circular motions flowing down the sides of your face. This area can also be prone to congestion, so let's ensure it receives the attention it deserves.

4. Across the Nose: As you approach your nose, give it a little extra TLC. The nose is notorious for congestion and blackheads, so a touch more care here can go a long way.

5. Figure 8 Motion: Here's where the magic unfolds. Envision tracing a figure 8 across your face. Start from the top, gracefully swoop down around your nose, and then glide back up to the other side of your hairline. This motion ensures that every inch of your face gets the cleansing it deserves, leaving no room for dirt or makeup to hide.

6. Don't Forget the Neck: Remember, your skincare routine doesn't stop at the jawline. Bring that figure 8 motion down your neck to maintain a smooth and youthful appearance.

7. Repeat and Rinse: Yes, you heard it right – if your skin craves a little extra attention, don't hesitate to repeat the figure 8 motion. Afterward, rinse off the cleanser with a damp face washer.

8. The Final Wipe: Rinse out your face washer and give your skin one last gentle wipe.

And here's a little tip to seal the deal – once you're done, grab a tissue and gently pat your face dry. This step removes any residual water, leaving your skin fresh and primed for the next products in your routine. Skipping this could leave tiny water droplets on your face, creating a barrier that lessens the effectiveness of subsequent products.

Now, a word of caution – never, and I mean never, position your face directly in the stream of the shower water.

Wondering why?

Well, the heat and pressure of the water can be too much for the delicate blood capillaries in your cheeks and face, and we want to keep those capillaries happy.

And here's a little secret – if you think that standing under the shower water is enough to remove all the product, residual makeup, and dirt from your face, think again. It isn't. The figure 8 method ensures a thorough cleanse that leaves your skin clean, refreshed, and ready for the next steps in your skincare routine.

So there you have it, my skincare enthusiasts. Cleansing with the figure 8 method is the cornerstone of a luminous complexion.

Whether you're on a desert island or nestled in the comfort of your own bathroom, this technique will elevate your skincare game to the next level. Cleanse diligently, my friends, and let your beautiful skin shine!
